The Digs

As I did last night, i'll be staying in a place that offers me a floor to sleep on, but I have to turn the lights off at 9 and get up at 3 the next morning.  This is called 'temple stay.'  Right now I'm staying at Heinsa, a temple in the middle of Korea.  My little tour of Korea should be ending soon, and I'm looking forward to getting back to Seoul, and ultimately back to the states (5 days).

I gotta say that your blog has been really really great. I love your insights and observations, and willingness to express them "out loud" and reveal your inner dialogue. We don't do that very often except for close friends or family, so to post all this on the web has been really a treat, even if I haven't responded very much. I hope you keep it up during the transition. What is the line...something about "an unexamined life is probably not worth living.."??? You have certainly examined yours, and more, this past year.

Hey there, I just found your site and have enjoyed reading your thoughts-- I'm a halfsie Korean American on his way to Seoul (specifically yonsei) tomorrow. As for Haeinsa, did you enjoy it? I also spent one all too brief night there in 2004, and was both impressed and terrified by the regemin.
